Margaret Frances "Peggy" Tofalo, 91, a Minnesota girl who enlisted in the Navy WAVES in World War II, married a rising naval officer from the Utica area, and moved their household 27 times during his career afloat and ashore, died November 3 of infirmities of age at Virginia Hospital Center, Arlington, Virginia. She resided at Vinson Hall, a Navy retirement community in Arlington. Mrs. Tofalo remained in Washington after the war and in 1947 met Lieutenant Commander Francis Tofalo, an upstate New York bachelor biding his time between postings. He proposed marriage later that week. Within months Commander Tofalos parents, Rocco and Maria Tofalo of West Winfield, led a Utica delegation to the wedding in Hibbing, Minnesota. Francis Tofalo was a Captain when he retired from active naval duty in 1972 and became a bank trust officer in Utica. They resided in West Winfield. They moved to Vinson Hall in Northern Virginia in 1990. He died in 1997. Mrs. Tofalo is survived by Rosemary Tofalo Bowes, Anne Tofalo, Michael Tofalo and Rear Admiral Joseph Tofalo.
