Mary Orlowski, 88, formerly of Utica and New York Mills, passed away Tuesday, July 23, 2013, at the Heritage H.C.C., where she had been a resident. She was born in Utica on November 12, 1924, the daughter of Frank and Wanda Wojciechowski Sloma, and attended local schools. Mary was employed with the Mohawk Valley Psychiatric Center for over 25 years until her retirement. She was a member of the former Sacred Heart Church, the Jan Robak P.L.A.V. Post #8 Ladies Auxiliary and the Orchard Lake Ladies Auxiliary. Her survivors include her son, Paul and his wife, Dianne Orlowski, of Marcy; a daughter, Theresa Armstrong, of Hinckley; and a sister, Frances Bazan, of Albany. Also included are her two grandchildren and their spouses, Geoffrey and Samantha Orlowski and Matthew and Nicole Orlowski; five great-grandchildren, Madisyn, Rachael, Mark, Olivia and Nathan; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Janet Handzel, and brother, Edward Sloma. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 9:15 a.m. at the KowalczykFuneral Home, 1156 Lincoln Avenue, Utica, and at 10 a.m. at Holy Trinity Church, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Relatives and friends may call today from 4 until 6 p.m. Burial will take place in Holy Trinity Cemetery.
