Sister Mary Roger Lemke, OSF, (Agnes Mary Lemke) went home to God on Wednesday, August 27, 2014, at Franciscan Villa. She was born in Utica, New York, to Albert and Catherine Winkler Lemke. She was a Sister of St. Francis for 80 years. Sister received a Bachelors Degree in Elementary Education from the College of St. Rose in Albany, New York, and a Masters Degree in Elementary Education from Scranton University in Scranton, PA. Her ministries included teaching in the states of New York, New Jersey, Ohio and Hawaii. She was also the Director of the Microfilm Department at St. Josephs Hospital. During her later years, Sister worked in the Communication Office at St. Anthonys Convent. Sister Mary Roger will always be remembered for her years of devoted service to her Community and in the hearts of those who knew and loved her as a loyal, loving and caring sister with a great sense of humor. She was predeceased by three brothers, Edward, George and Albert Lemke, and one sister, Catherine Driemiller. She is survived by several nieces and nephews and the Sisters of St. Francis. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, September 2, 2014, at 11:00 AM at the Franciscan Villa Chapel. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 10:45 AM in the Chapel. Interment will follow immediately at Assumption Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Sisters of St. Francis of the Neumann Communities, Mission Advancement Office, 6900 Buckley Road, Syracuse, New York 13212.
