Obituary Condolences

Matthew Paul Kantor, Jr.
WEST WINFIELD - Matthew Paul Kantor, Jr., 25, of West Winfield, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, August 18, 2013, at his home.
He was born on August 28, 1987, in Cooperstown, a son of Matthew P. Kantor, Sr., and Shannon Manion. Matthew was a 2005 graduate of Mt. Markham High School.
At one time, Matthew was employed with the Horned Dorset Restaurant and the Colgate Inn as a Chef. He later accepted a position with Remington Arms in Ilion, a job that he truly loved and excelled at.
Matthew was a loving father, son and brother. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them, especially his two children, Ayva and Ian, whom he simply adored. He was an accomplished athlete and excelled in all sports that he participated in, especially basketball, soccer and baseball. He was an avid fisherman and was known by his friends as a real jokester. Neatness and organization were just some of the many great traits that Matthew possessed and was known for by his family and friends.
Matthew is survived by his adored children, Ayva and Ian Kantor, and their mother, Renee Holmes; his mother and stepfather, Shannon and Dr. Stan Weiselberg, of Cassville; his siblings, Alex and Niki Kantor, Kathleen Weiselberg and Sam Weiselberg, with whom he shared a very close and special relationship; also his stepbrother and sister, Jeremy and Kira Weiselberg. He is also survived by his maternal grandmother, Eleanor Manion, of Clinton, and his paternal grandmother, Ann Kantor, of West Winfield. He also leaves many aunts, uncles and cousins and many very special and close friends. Last, but not least, his canine companion, "Beans", who was always at his side. He was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, John Manion, and his paternal grandfather, Michael Kantor.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Matthew's close friends, Justin and Chris, for being there with him.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 4:00 PM at the Dimbleby, Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Home, 365 West Main St., in West Winfield, with the Rev. Laurie Pauley officiating. Family and friends are invited to call on Sunday prior to the service from 2:00 to 4:00 PM.
