Patricia J. Lomanto, 74, of Clinton, passed away unexpectedly at St. Elizabeth's Hospital on Sunday, April 7th, 2013. Pat was born on April 22, 1938, in Utica, a daughter of the late Howard and Marie (Girvin) Chappell. She graduated from Clinton Central School and worked several small jobs in the community until meeting the love of her life Joe. On July 11, 1959, she married Joseph A. Lomanto. They settled in Clinton where she found her true calling of being a loving mother, wife, daughter, aunt and caretaker of family and friends. People who know her best remember how she treated friends as family and always put family first. She is survived by her beloved husband, Joe; two daughters, Laura Lomanto-Bailey, of Clinton, and Holly and Rory O'Connell of Huntersville, NC; one sister Elizabeth (Sweeney) and Ron Akel, of Binghamton; the joy of her life, her grandson, Kaden O'Connell; nieces and nephews, Melissia Zick-Engelhart, Don Sweeney, Kara (Sweeney) Kovatch, and several other nieces and nephews; and many others who she considered and treated as family regardless of relation. Pat was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Pamela (Chappell) Zick; and a son-in-law, Jack (JL) Bailey. A deep, heartfelt thank you is extended to all the neighbors and medical personnel who helped with Pat. Pat's funeral will be held on Friday at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Clinton, with burial in St. Mary's Cemetery.
