Obituary Condolences

Theresa Grillo
West Winfield
Theresa Grillo, 90, of West Winfield and formerly of New Hartford and Floral Park, NY, died July 15, 2013, at Faxton-St. Luke's Healthcare, surrounded by her family members. She was born April 12, 1923, in Brooklyn, NY, daughter of Francesco and Margaret Misiano Mascara. She happily married Vincent S. (Jimmy) Grillo, June 2, 1946, in Brooklyn. He died September 16, 2000. She was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church, New Hartford, where she enjoyed being a part of the parish. Terry was an active member of the Adult Day Center at Folts Home. The staff and bus drivers were the newest members to her "family" and gave her much happiness. Terry was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Terry was an accomplished woman who did everything well. She believed in keeping the mind and body active and challenged herself each day with at least one crossword puzzle. She created many beautiful pieces of needlework embroidery, was a wonderful cook and hostess and loved to sew. Terry worked along side her husband on household projects. She prided herself on her independence and even had her own set of tools. She loved to sing with her family and her harmonies were the best. She was active, independent and lived life everyday to the fullest. She was always willing to help anyone she could and was affectionately called Grandma by many. She loved, and fondly recalled, her travels across the United States with her husband. She is survived by her son, S. James Grillo, West Winfield; two daughters and a son-in-law, Francine Notartomaso, of New Hartford, and Jackie and Matthew Russo, of West Winfield; her grandchildren, Catherine and husband, Bradlee Barfield, of New Hartford, Theresa Notartomaso and fiance, Grant Johmann, of Long Island City, Vincent Russo, of PA, James Notartomaso and wife, Alicia, of Rome, NY, Zachary Grillo, Matthew Russo and wife, Katie, of CT, and Sara and Will Putmon, of Syracuse; great-grandchildren, Sean, Olivia and Anthony Notartomaso; her brother and sister-in-law, Anthony and Ann Mascara, of Monticello, NY; sister-in-law, Harriet Lenore Mascara, of Forestburgh, NY; brothers-in-law and their wives, George and Delores Grillo, and Sam and Paula Grillo; special friend, Maryanne Krasinski; and her loving nieces and nephews. The family wishes to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Steven La Grant and his staff, Patty, Kelly and Nancy, for all of the care and affection given to Theresa over the years; to Laura Dain, Mary Perry, Claire Ladano of the ADC, the staff of Folts Rehab/Repsite Unit where Terry received care and companionship many times; and to the fifth floor and CCU nurses at St. Luke's Hospital. The family also extends their sincere appreciation to Wanda Gregory of St John the Evangelist Church. Calling hours are on Thursday from 4-6 PM at Dimbleby, Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Home, 13 Oxford Rd., New Hartford. The funeral will be Friday at 10 AM at St. John the Evangelist Church where a Funeral Mass will be celebrated. Interment will be in Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery. In memory of Theresa, those who wish may make contributions to the Folts Home Foundation, Herkimer, NY. Online messages of sympathy may be left at: www.dfwefh.com
