Alphonse P.
Mr. Alphonse P. Chubby Caporale, age 79, passed away on Tuesday, July 1, 2014 at the Faxton-St. Lukes Healthcare Center. Born in Utica on October 20, 1934, Alphonse was the son of the late Paul and Edna M. (Jalowiec) Caporale. Raised and educated locally, he was a graduate of T.R. Proctor High School. He continued his education at M.V.C.C. and later at Utica College where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering. A proud veteran, Chubby honorably served his country in the United States Army. On April 19, 1958 he married the former Joan A. Mitsler with whom he shared 36 years in a loving union until her passing on December 10, 1994. For many years, Chubby was employed by the General Electric Company through its transition to Lockheed Martin, as an Industrial Engineer, the position from which he retired. For Chubby, his family was his life, and his mission in life was to protect them, care for them, and make them happy. And he did it with love. A man of simple pleasures, Chubby enjoyed spending time with his brother-in-law, Donald Dodge, sharing a cup of coffee and fishing on the St. Lawrence. He was a parishioner of St. Anthony & St. Agnes Church. Chubby is survived by his sons and daughter-in-law, Glenn and Lori Caporale, Kyle Caporale, and Erik Caporale and Suzanne Darjany, all of Florida; his grandchildren, Brandi and Gary Frye, Kreig Caporale, Zackery Caporale and Autumn Caporale; and his great-grandson, Herbert Frye. He will also be remembered by his sisters, Dolores Sbiroli of Utica, and Paula Wohlrab of Deerfield; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and in-laws Leo Mitsler, Robert and Delores Mitzler, Beverly Canfield, Carol Mitzler, Joyce and William Dempsey, Sharon Siemers, Suzanne Vassallo, and Margaret Dodge. He was predeceased by his in-laws, Frank A. Sbiroli Sr., Donald Dodge, Gerald Wohlrab Sr., Catherine and Richard Palczynski, John Vassallo, William Mitsler, J. William Canfield, and Grace Mitsler; and his nephew, Frank A. Sbiroli, Jr. Visitation will be held Sunday from 2:00-4:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. By family request, please omit floral offerings. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Alphonse's graveside services which will commence on Monday morning at 10:00 at St. Agnes Cemetery with the Rev. Mark Kaminski officiating.
