Obituary Condolences

Edith L. Bartkowiak, 87, a life long area resident passed away on Saturday, August 16, 2014, at the Presbyterian Home For CNY. She was born in North River, Town of Warren, NY, on July 29, 1927, the daughter of Richard J. and Mary A. (Terry) Burgey, the second eldest of nine siblings and attended Whitesboro Central High School graduating in 1946. On November 6, 1948 she married Leo Bartkowiak, a loving union of 44 years until his passing in 1977. At one time she was employed with New York Telephone, American Greeting Cards, BJs Wholesale Club and the Observer Dispatch retiring in 2006. She was a parishioner of Our Lady of The Rosary Church. Her survivors include her two daughters and their spouses, Linda and Gordon King of Marcy and Nancy and John Baldwin of Whitesboro; four grandchildren and their spouses; Kimberly and Jeffrey Hamilton, GA; Kevin and Shana King, Chadwicks , Jon Baldwin, MI and Jeffrey and Stacie Baldwin of VA; five great-grandchildren, Meghan and Garrett Hamilton, Zachary and Katie Baldwin and Mia King. She is also survived by two sisters, Shiela Reed and Esther Britten, both of Camden. She was predeceased by her daughter, Susan LaMothe, in 1992, as well as her five brothers and two sisters, James, George, Richard, Bernard, Russell, Veronica Flagg and Mary Fitch. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10:00 am from Our Lady of The Rosary Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Those that wish may call on Thursday (today) from 5until 8pm at the Kowalczyk Funeral Home, 284 Main Street, New York Mills. Burial will take place in Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Whitestown.
