Ronald Michalowski Obituary

Ronald N. Michalowski
Utica
Mr. Ronald N. "Ronnie Bell" Michalowski, age 65, of Utica, passed away on Friday, July 13, 2012, at the St. Elizabeth Medical Center, with the comfort of his family by his side. Born in Utica on February 6, 1947, Ronald was the son of the late Johnny Bell and Pauline Michalowski. He was raised and educated locally and attended Utica Free Academy. A proud veteran of the United States Army, he honorably served his country during the Vietnam Era, stationed in Korea. Upon his discharge, he continued his military commitment in the National Guard at the Armory. Ron knew the companionship and friendship of Judy Cvetezar for almost 42 years. They loved one another and honored each other's needs, and on May 18, 1991, they were united in marriage. It was a dream-come-true when Judy married a "tall, dark, and handsome man". Ron was employed as a Bus Driver for the Utica Transit Authority, assigned to drive the North Utica/Genesee Street routes. He offered kindness, conversation, and safe passage to his passengers for many years, retiring in 1991. Lastly, he worked in the Maintenance Department at the Federal Building until 2010. Whether at work or at ease, Ron was spontaneous and sensitive with people. He had a fun side and a compassionate nature which made him a special and unforgettable man. He was always attentive and on alert for the safety of the neighborhood children. He never missed the annual festival at his parish, Historic Old St. John's Church, where he was known to have a sausage and hot pepper sandwich followed by a cold beer. Ron kept life simple. He appreciated music, especially jazz and blues, volunteered at the Utica Boilermaker as a traffic director, was proud to have honorably served his country, and was so joyful that he was a good husband and family man. He was a member of the Utica Overseas Veterans, AM Vets, and American Legion Post 229. Ron is survived by his wife, Judy; his sons and daughter-in-law, Ronald N. Michalowski, II, and John and Amanda Michalowski; his daughter, Haley Michalowski; and his grandchildren, Charisma, John, Jr., and Makayla who he adored. He also leaves many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and in-laws, Patty and Paul Lindsey, and Walt and Judy Cvetezar. He was blessed with many friendships throughout his life with special mention of his buddy Angelo Maggiore. He was predeceased by an infant brother and his sister, Mildred Spann. The family sends sincere thanks to Kevin Mahoney, NP, and the St. Elizabeth Medical Center entire staff, ICU, physicians, nurses, and aides for their support and compassionate ways. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 4:00-6:00 at the Eannace Funeral Home, Inc., 932 South St., corner of Hammond Ave. Ronald's funeral service with Military Honors will commence on Tuesday evening at 6:00 at the funeral home immediately upon conclusion of visitation with Rev. John Buehler officiating the ceremony. Interment will take place in Forest Hill Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Online tributes at: www.EannaceFuneralHome.com
