Thomas R. Dockrell passed away on August 9, 2012. Tom was born July 19, 1924 to Ruth Roulston Dockrell and Donald M. Dockrell of Stoneham, MA. He graduated from Melrose High School (MA) in 1942. Tom spent three years in the Army Air Force during World War II, 1943-46, before he married Barbara Dixon of Melrose, MA, a marriage of 60 years until Barbaras death in January 2006. He graduated from Colgate University in 1949. Tom was Captain of the 1948 national A.A.U. championship team. He was also a member of the 1948 A.A.U. Olympic team in St. Moritz Switzerland. From 1949-53 he played for the Clinton Comets. Tom was a Partner of Steel Treaters of Oriskany and Troy, NY. He was Past President of Clinton Youth Foundation, Oriskany Rotary Club, The Skenandoa Club in Clinton, NY and The Quail Run Golf Club in Naples, FL. Tom was a member of Melrose High School Athletic Hall of Fame as well as the Colgate University Athletic Hall of Honor. Tom is survived by his children, Lynda (Tom) Wollard of OK, Thomas Jr. (Alicia) Dockrell of NY and Diane (Ken) Christiano of NY; 8 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren; brother, Arthur Dick Dockrell. He was predeceased by a brother, Donald "Bud" Dockrell. Toms family will receive friends, neighbors and old teammates at a celebration luncheon in his honor at The Skenandoa Club, Clinton, NY on Saturday, September 22, 2012, 1pm 4pm.
