Robert A. Canarelli
Robert A. Canarelli, 77, passed away on April 30, 2013, at the Pines at Utica Center, with his loving family at his side. He was born in Utica on July 24, 1935 to the late Joseph and Sarah Brescia Canarelli and was a 1954 graduate of Proctor High School. Bob also attended Clarkson College and M.V.C.C. and later served his country in the U.S. Air Force. On May 26, 1962, in St. Josephs Church in Oneida, Bob and Winifred Hitchings were united in marriage. Prior to his retirement he was employed with the N.Y.S. Department of Transportation as an Engineering Technician. Bob was a talented wood carver and artist, creating many beautiful treasures over the years. He also enjoyed the times spent with the Proctor Boys Class of 1954 and his coffee buddies, spending their Tuesdays at Carusos and other area coffee shops during the week. Bob was a devoted husband, caring father, grandfather and friend to many, who will cherish their memories of him for years to come. He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Winnie; his daughter, Jennifer A. Canarelli and husband George Wachter of BelAir, MD; his three sons, Jeffrey J. and Donna Canarelli of Utica, John M. and Josette Canarelli of Rome and Jason R. Canarelli and fiance Tricia Cianfrocco-Wright of Marcy; his seven cherished grandchildren, Anthony M. Wachter, Philip J. Canarelli, Megan E. and Michael Kennedy, Sarah E. Canarelli, Emily K. Canarelli, Carly R. Wright and Cayla N. Wright; his sister, Maria and Mark Tubert of New Hartford; his brothers, Patsy and Rachael Canarelli of Cassville, Frank and Jane Canarelli of Utica and David and Diane Canarelli of Lititz, PA; his aunt, Rachael Chieco of Clinton; his best friend, Bob Cimbalo; and many nieces, nephews and in-laws. He was predeceased by his brother and sister-in-law, Joseph Jr. and Connie Canarelli; and his longtime canine companion, Chloe. Funeral services for Bob will be held on Saturday, May 4 at 10:00 at the SmithFuneral Home, 3022 Oneida St. Sauquoit. Interment will be in Norwich Corners Cemetery.
