Joyce K. (Daly) Casper, 76, of New Hartford went home to the Lord on Saturday, August 3, 2013 at home surrounded by her loving family. Joyce was born on July 25, 1937 in Troy, New York, the daughter of Dennis and Kathryn (Cooling) Daly. She attended St. Marys School and was a graduate of Utica Free Academy. On October 1, 1960, Joyce married Edward Casper in St. Basils Melkite Catholic Church. They enjoyed a blessed union of nearly 53 years becoming best friends and soul mates. Prior to the birth of her children, Joyce was employed with the New York Telephone Company. She later returned to work as Office Manager of Casper Chiropractic on Genesee Street. Joyce was a communicant of Our Lady of the Rosary Church and a member of a special bridge group with her lifelong friends, Roseanne Orlando, Janice Massi, Carol Davis and Marie Scialdone. Joyce was a humble, gracious lady who was devoted to her family. A loving wife, mother, grandmother and friend she was also a great cook and hostess who welcomed everyone into her home. She loved life, enjoyed being a part of the action with her Eddie and was known as the Queen of the One-liners. She was particularly proud of her Irish heritage, which she displayed throughout her life. Surviving is her beloved husband, Edward Casper, Sr.; cherished children, daughter, Janine Casper, Albany, sons and daughters-in-law, Dr. James and Donna Casper, Sauquoit, Dr. Edward and Susan Casper, Whitesboro and Daniel and Elvira Casper, Astoria; adored grandchildren, Daniele, Eddie III, Nicholas, Jenna Marie and Katrina; stepgrandchildren, Nicole and Gabrielle; sister, Marie Stallmer, Troy; in-laws, Lorraine Daly, Rochester; Eli and Evelyn Casper, Maryland; and several nieces, nephews and cousins including special cousins, Marion Herrmann, George and Diane Gaspard and Dr. Antoine and Renee Gaspard, Quebec. She also leaves her special friends, Marie and John Scialdone, Ann Girmonde, Gloria Betro, Bill and Roseanne Orlando, Rose Sangiacomo, and Betty and Dick Kistner; ; special Florida friends; and many other dear friends she held close to her heart. Joyce was predeceased by her beloved infant granddaughter, Amanda Grace; brothers, Edward (Ned) and Richard Daly; and in-laws, Donald Stallmer, Ray and Lu Casper, Mary Casper, Evelyn and Louis Jweid and Delores and William Cougan. Family and friends are invited and may call Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. at Nunn & McGrath Funeral Directors, 470 French Rd., Utica. Funeral services will be Wednesday at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home and 10:00 a.m. from Our Lady of the Rosary Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Entombment will be in Calvary Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, remembrances in Joyces name may be made to the . Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. The Casper family extends a special thank you to Dr. Kevin McCormick, Dr. Sushma Kaul, Dr. Fred Talarico and their staffs along with Joyces caregivers, Amy, Phyllis and Karen, the Visiting Nurse Association (especially Stephanie), Hospice & Palliative Care, and everyone from Lincare Inc. for the compassionate care and kindness shown to Joyce and her family during her illness.
