Anthony D. "Tony" Valentine, 68, entered into eternal life unexpectedly on June 27, 2014, at the Faxton-St. Luke's Campus. He was born in Excelsior Springs, Missouri, the son of the late Anthony and Wanda Powell Valentine. Tony was raised and educated in Rome, New York. He attended MVCC, where he received his Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Certificate which ultimately led to the birth of his own business known as Cool-It Refrigeration Company which he ran for over 30 years. On October 21, 1967, Tony married Celeste Mezzanini in St. Francis DeSales Church, a blessed union of 47 years. Tony will be reverently remembered by his family and friends as a man who was unselfish in every way, who never thought of himself, and who was honest, hardworking, loyal and compassionate. He was a passionate husband, father and grandfather who was always there for his family and friends. He will be dearly missed, especially his warm beautiful smile. Tony is survived by his beloved wife, Celeste; his daughter, Sabrina and Michael Taliento, of Staten Island; three sons, Todd, of New Hartford, Brian and Julie, of Rome, and Brad and Rachel, of Utica; a brother, Merlin (Buddy), of Rome; his mother-in-law, Theresa Mezzanini, of Utica; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Thomas and Valerie Garofalo, of Whitesboro; four grandchildren, Michael, Alyssa, Brianna and Isaiah; and two cousins, Joseph Chunchick and Antoinette Harvan, of PA. Family and friends are invited to attend Tony's Memorial Service on Thursday, July 3, 2014, at 6:00 PM at the Church of Our Lady Of Lourdes, Genesee Street, Utica, with Pastor Marilyn Bell officiating. The Valentine family will receive all those in attendance immediately following the service and will remain until everyone has been seen. The Valentine family is extremely grateful to their neighbor, Thomas Wheelock of Roberts Road, for his valiant efforts, and to Edwards Ambulance for their assistance. The family requests that flowers be omitted and that donations in Tony's memory be made to Abraham House or Hope House. The Valentine family is being serviced by Amodio Funeral Service, Angelo F.
