Charles E. Marsh, 89, of West Winfield, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 5, 2014, at the Mohawk Valley Health Care Center in Ilion. He was born on December 17, 1924, in Susquehanna, PA, a son of the late Charles W. and Helen (Whitney) Marsh. He was a graduate of Greene, NY, Central Schools and Harpur College in Binghamton, NY, where he received a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. Charles served his country with honor in the United States Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater as a Pharmacist's Mate on board an LST. In February of 1944, in Winterport, Maine, he was united in marriage to Mary Berish, a blessed union of over 39 years; she died in 1983. In 1985, he was united in marriage to Julie Page; she died in 1993. He later married Doris Grann on December 17, 1997, at St. Joseph's Church in Richfield Springs. Charles was employed with IBM as an accountant in Boca Raton, FL, retiring in 1986 after 42 years of dedicated service. He was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Parish in West Winfield. He also enjoyed golfing and football; he was a big fan of the Miami Dolphins. He is survived by his wife, Doris Marsh, of West Winfield, and his children, David Marsh and his wife, Theresa, of Owego, NY, Richard Marsh and his wife, Beth, of Blue Bell, PA, Mary Katherine Bushey and her husband, William, of Perkiomenville, PA, Charles Marsh and his wife, Terry, of Raleigh, NC, and Patricia Di Stefano and her husband, Peter, of Plano, TX. He also leaves his stepchildren, Joni Eaton, of Greene, NY, Diane Dudney, of Nebraska, Ronald Smith, of Tucson, AZ, Barbara Smith, also of Tucson, AZ, and Daniel Smith and his wife, Joanne, of Scotia, NY; also 18 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He leaves two brothers, Howard Marsh and his wife, Dorothy, of West Winfield, and Earl Marsh, of Edgewater, FL, and a brother-in-law, Paul Berish, of Kingston, NY. He also leaves several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, David Marsh. The family wishes to offer a very heartfelt thank you to the many doctors and nurses who cared for Charles during his illness; your kindness and compassion will never be forgotten. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph the Worker Parish in West Winfield, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. Military Honors will be offered at the conclusion of the Funeral Mass. Interment will be in the Slovak Cemetery in Binghamton, NY, on Wednesday at 1:00 PM. There are no public calling hours. The family will receive visitors at the conclusion of the Funeral Mass in the Church Reception Hall. Arrangements are with the Dimbleby, Friedel, Williams & Edmunds Funeral Home, 365 West Main St., in West Winfield.
