Dear Pats Family,
From Viña del Mar we always remember Patrick and his big heart to support and guide us during our 2 years tour in California. He will be in our memories for ever. His tour in Chile in the 70s was a great example of commitment and love to the fatherland. Please, receive our warmest regards from Rosie & Arturo Fuenzalida

I miss my friend, Pat! He was a great Marine and a faithful mentor. He headed my only ground patrol in Vietnam, as I was in the Wing, and upon our return to San Diego we shared our mutual membership in the California Bar. He was a great lawyer and an advisor to me for a very important application, and we shared leadership duties at different times for the MCRD Historical Foundation. He made his mark and will not be forgotten. Warmest regards, Judge Vic Bianchini

I had the priviledge to have worked for Coronel Patrick Ryan during his tour in Chile. I was the Secretary-Interpreter for the US Naval Mission and left a good memory among the Officers and Personnel who met him. He helped me to advance in my career and I will never forget his great integrity and honor, but of course, he was a US Marine. Rest in Peace.

Pat stands tall as a Marine and leader from my first tour of duty as a Navy chaplain. He leveraged his strategic and tactical skills with confidence, yet was always good for a laugh. May his tribe increase.

I met him when I was a boy, in the 70' in Chile. He taught me how to dive and was one of the best friends of my Father (R.I.P.) and my whole family. We shared a lot of nice memories together, summer holydays in Zapallar and Cachagua, a lot of barbecues, interesting conversations and a couple of margaritas in his home in La Jolla.
From him, we learnt how an honorable man is, how we have to defend our values and stand for our principles.
Uncle Pat family, our deepest condolences, let the Lord have him in his kingdom. He is in a better place now.

Colonel Ryan was a man of outstanding dedication and character. If this country only knew more of this man's personal history and record of achievements, the knowledge alone would serve as a model from which honor would be paid to the very values for which he sacrificed.
A man's man of an enduring fighting spirit for the cause of freedom, who had personally endured the vicious rigors of combat, he also suffered under the steady, transforming Hand of the Almighty, which fashioned him into an instrument of gentle loving kindness.
Rest now, valiant warrior. May we who remain be privileged to be remembered and missed as you will be.
