BURCHARD (PALMER), JANICE LOUISE March 10, 1943 to Oct. 9, 2012 Janice was born in Bakersfield, CA, the eldest of four siblings. She attended San Francisco State University, earning a BA in Art in 1969, and later a teaching certificate. In the years after college, she married her first husband Robert Jones, and began her career as a teacher. In 1987 she moved to San Diego, and later married her second husband Dennis Burchard. She had many interests, including animals, nature, and the arts, and she remained active in drawing and writing poetry. She passed away at home in Flagstaff, AZ, where she had been living in recent years. She is survived by her son Roland Palmer (Monica), her sister Patty Oliver (John), and two brothers Grant and John Palmer. A service will be held at El Camino Memorial in Sorrento Valley, on Saturday, December 8, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Hope Cottage in Flagstaff, AZ.

Thank you Roland for the tribute to your mom. Janice wrote many cards and letters to me over the years, which i have kept. She was a writer in her heart of hearts. We had some wonderful times growing up as 'navy juniors' and
