Glen Archibald Obituary

Archibald, Glen Harold SAN MARCOS -- Glen Harold Archibald, 68, passed away peacefully at home after a short illness on January 18, 2013 in San Marcos, CA. Glen was born and raised in Canoga Park, CA the fourth child of Everett and Alice Archibald on March 5, 1944. After serving in the US Navy between 1962 -1965, he worked for Lockheed in Burbank (1965-1967); University of California, Los Angeles as a Laboratory Mechanician for the Chemistry Department (1967-1973) and as a Plumber in the power plant (1973-1976), moving to the University of California, Davis in 1976. In 1977, he received his C-36 Plumbing Contractors license, and from 1977-1980 operated his first business in Dixon, Calif. In 1981-1983, he taught Plumbing at San Juan College, Farmington, NM, followed by a teaching assignment for six month with Telemedia Communications, Yambu, Saudi Arabia. Shortly after leaving the Navy, Glen married Carol Lynn Stone in Canoga Park on July 3, 1965. They enjoyed a wonderful loving and fun filled marriage, have two children, Michael Glen Archibald and Sherye Lynn De Beaucourt. After making several moves, the family settled in the North San Diego area in December 1988, where he started the current and ongoing Archibald Plumbing, now operated by his son, Michael. Glen retired from the plumbing trade in 2008, and Carol and he travel for two years in a RV, driving over 25,000 miles visiting 42 of the continuous states and Alaska. They also enjoyed several trips to the Hawaii islands and Mexico. Glen was preceded in death by his parents; and older sister, Bunny Marie Colville Craft; and parent-in-laws, Glen Joseph Stone and Jane Winfred Bowen Stone. He is survived by his wife, Carol; their children, Michael and Sherye; son-in law, Christopher Scott De Beaucourt; daughter-in-law, Lenea Irene Tajalle Archibald; grandchildren, Jason Michael De Beaucourt and Ryan Scott De Beaucourt; brothers, William Archibald of Mammoth, Calif., Robert Archibald of Oceanside, Calif., and Dale Archibald; and sister, Joyce A. Smith of Paradise, Calif.; and many nieces and nephews. Rest in peace Glen, you will be missed by all who knew you and enjoyed your friendship, kindness and since of humor. A memorial service will be performed on Saturday, January 26th, at 5pm, Palomar Estates East, 650 S Rancho Santa Fe Road, San Marcos, CA 92078 in the clubhouse. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to one of Glen's humanitarian concerns: Standup for Kids-Oceanside or Escondido Humane Society. Thank you.
