Lozick, Alice Nancy SAN DIEGO -- Nancy Alice Lozick, 52, of San Diego, passed away peacefully after a courageous battle with cancer on Monday, January 20, 2014, in her home surrounded by her family. Nancy was born August 10, 1962, in Milford, CT, the daughter of the late Thomas and Norene (Duhaime) Ruhman. Before moving to California, Nancy worked at her family's business Tom's Deli in Milford, CT, where she was often found working alongside her parents and has said it was one of the happiest times in her life. At the age of 17, Nancy moved with family from Connecticut to San Diego, CA, where she basked in the sunshine, attended Hoover High School and later met her husband, Eric D. Lozick. Sadly, five years after marriage (July 20, 1988), Nancy was widowed with children Eric, John and Jennifer. After triumphantly raising three children on her own, Nancy proudly opened her own business, Paradise Donuts which was beloved by many customers.Succeeding the great success of Paradise Donuts, Nancy revitalized another family owned business, Mike's Aquarium, in which she endured a great deal of sacrifice for others and found love in working with animals (especially birds). Nancy later began to work for the Cement Masons Local 500 as a secretary, where she was renowned for bringing fun to every situation. Nancy enjoyed cooking, reading, dancing, birds, and making people laugh. As one of her greatest interests, Nancy voyaged on many cruise ships where she embarked to her favorite destinations such as the Caribbean and Mexican Riviera. Her travels seemed to have never left her, as her character and dress attire was full of tropical sense. In remembrance, she will be most thought of from her continuous unselfish deeds of helping people and being a wonderful mother. Nancy is survived by her two sons Eric Lozick, John Lozick and daughter Jennifer Ruhman. Services will be held at Greenwood Memorial Park & Mortuary, 4300 Imperial Ave., San Diego CA, in The Salli Lynn Chapel, Monday, January 27th, at 9:00 a.m. A graveside service will follow directly after. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be sent to the Elizabeth Hospice Center, 500 La Terraza Blvd. Suite #130, Escondido, CA 92025.

Words cant describe how much you are loved and missed. Our hearts are sad, we question why you had to leave us, only the Creator above has a plan, we will carry you in our thoughts and spirit, and remember your sparkle, until we meet again one day above. Beloved sister Patty.
