Angelo Acevedo

Acevedo, Angelo SAN DIEGO -- Angelo Acevedo, a very well-known and respected coach in East County Softball for more than three decades, passed away peacefully at Scripps Mercy Hospital on Monday, March 4, 2013. He was born in New York City, New York, on August 15, 1936. He was the oldest of two children and he later served in the US Marine Corps and the US Army. After working many years as a mechanical engineering designer, he retired and devoted more of his time to actively coaching girls' softball, primarily in the Bobby Sox Leagues. Throughout the years, his Bobby Sox teams won numerous local championships as well as regional and national championships. Mr. Acevedo is survived by his wife Lisa in San Diego, his daughter Stacey and husband Mark, and three Grandchildren, Tyler, Nicolas and Alexis who reside in Columbus, Ohio He is also survived by a sister, Dolores Janevero and her family who reside in West Palm Beach, Florida. Services will be held at Miramar National Cemetery on Wednesday March 13 at 2:00 PM. A public viewing will be held at Featheringill Mortuary, 6322 El Cajon Blvd on Tuesday, March 12 between 4:00 to 8:00 PM.
