PROCTOR, CHARLES J. Charles J. Proctor passed away on November 15, 2012, in Escondido, CA. He was born October 13, 1921 in Chicago, IL, to R. George and Elizabeth Proctor. During WWII
he served as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a bombardier aboard a B-17. He was shot down over Germany in 1944 and spent the remainder of the war as a P.O.W. After returning from the war, he began dating the girl next door, and he and Mary were married in 1946. He worked as a civil engineer, developing mass transit systems in D.C., Bangkok and L.A. He and Mary retired to Carlsbad in 1985. His greatest pleasures were traveling and spending time with his family, especially his only grandchild, Claire. He is preceded in death by his wife Mary. Charles is survived by son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Virginia Proctor, daughter and son-in-law Mary Beth and Laurence McKinley; and granddaughter Claire McKinley. A memorial service will be held Friday, November 30th, 1:00 p.m., Redwood Terrace, 710 W. 13th Avenue, Escondido, CA. Memorial donations may be made in his name to Union Rescue Mission, Los Angeles, CA.
