DALE SYDNEY BAKER

BAKER, DALE SYDNEY Dale Sydney Baker passed away February 7, 2013, at 85 in Alpine, CA, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's. Born September 30, 1927, in Frederic, WI, to Esther and Sydney Baker. His brother, William, predeceased him. After serving in the U.S. Navy in WWII, he married Donna Bersell and moved to San Diego in 1956. A retired letter carrier, he and Donna managed a self-storage business and traveled extensively. She passed in 2008. His two fondest loves were his family and classic cars. Dale is survived by his sister Carole, his children and their spouses Vicki Baker and Steve Wapnowski, Bryan Baker and Debra Popineau-Baker, Tracy Scott and Diane Baker, and Valli and Marty Cox; grandchildren Chris Evans, Cori Wapnowski, Scott Hall, and Brittany and Heather Baker; and two great-grandchildren, Michael and Aiden Hall. A 1 p.m. memorial service will be held February 23 at Bethel Christian Assembly, Alpine, CA. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation in Dale's name to UCSD Alzheimer's Research (http://adrc.ucsd.edu/givenow.html).
