Hopkins, David Brooks SAN DIEGO -- David Brooks Hopkins, 66, of San Diego California, succumbed to cancer, April 6, 2013. His Memorial service will be held at Christ Episcopal Church, Coronado, May 4, at 2 p.m. Born February 13, 1947, in Cleveland, Ohio; to David and Mary Louise Hopkins, David attended University School K-12 '66. He earned a B.A. in History from Yale University
'70, a Law Degree from Boston University '75. David immediately joined the Cleveland firm of Arter and Hadden, becoming a partner in the Washington, D.C. office. In 1986 David left D.C. and moved to San Diego to marry Carol Lamb Winner, joining the law firm of Hillyer and Irwin. In 2004 Hillyer-Irwin merged with Sullivan-Hill where David remained a partner until his death. Active in the service ministry of Christ Church, Coronado, and a major fund-raiser for multiple sclerosis, David loved music, biking, swimming and running. His infectious laugh will be missed by all who knew him. David is survived by his wife, Carol; stepchildren, Maureen Friend (Chris) of Mira Mesa; and Sam Winner (Orian) of Annapolis, Maryland; sister, Marilyn Langmack (Chris) of Cleveland Heights, Ohio; nieces, Virginia Cowan (Jeremy) of Wilmette, Illinois; and Cynthia Langmack (David Goodman) of Cleveland Heights, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Episcopal Community Services, 4305 University Ave, San Diego, CA 92105.
