Dawn Cecelia Bussjaeger

Bussjaeger, Dawn Cecelia LEUCADIA -- Dawn Cecelia Bussjaeger passed away peacefully from complications of Alzheimer's at 3:01 a.m. on Jan. 26, 2013. Dawn was born in Los Angeles on May 27, 1925 and lived in Southern California most of her life. In December of 1942, she met Tom, the love of her life, and they dated until he was called to duty in the Marine Corps in June of 1943. She graduated from Washington High School that year and then attended USC, majoring in Art and Music. They were married on August 13, 1944 just before he went to the Pacific. After the war, they lived in Manhattan Beach, then transferred to Portland, Ore. and Seattle, Wash. After six years in the Northwest, they returned to Southern California and settled in La Habra. During that time, Dawn was a "Stay at Home" mom. She was an accomplished accordion/piano player and an outstanding painter. In 1973, while still living in La Habra, they bought a Seabluffe home in Leucadia and in 1990 she and Tom moved to La Quinta, Calif. They spent winters in La Quinta and summers in Leucadia, until she was moved to an assisted living facility in Encinitas. She is survived by her loving husband, Tom; and their four children, Kathy Cunningham (Alan) of Folsom, Jerry Bussjaeger (Kay) of San Clemente, Joan Warot (Al) of Long Beach, Teresa Stark (Jim) of Sacramento; and by nine grandchildren (all adults now); eight great- grandchildren; and her twin sisters, Martha Blocker and Marie Rhodes. A Mass and reception will be held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, February 9, 2013, at St. John's Church on Encinitas Blvd in Encinitas, Calif.
