DON BARDOT

iconBARDOT, DON Donald F. Bardot passed away November 23, 2012 after a lengthy battle with several illness's. Don graduated from San Diego High in 1944 and joined the Marines. He served with the 1st Marines in the Battle of Okinawa. After the war Don played football and graduated from San Diego State. He went into teaching but left teaching for a brief stint with the F.B.I. in Boston, Mass. Don returned to Education for a career that spanned 37 yrs in the Sweetwater Union High School District as a teacher, coach, vice-principal and principal. He also spent 26 years in the Marine and Army Reserve retiring as a Lt. Col. with a Meritorious service medal. He could not go to many places through out the San Diego area without meeting former students he taught and coached . Don and his friends were the epitome of the greatest generation. After retiring from teaching and the Army Reserve, Don and his wife of 58 years, Barbara, traveled around the world. He also served as a consultant for the school district along with volunteering to serve on Judge Dave Gill's eagle scout board of review for years. Don is survived by his wife Barbara, Son Gene, and Daughter Janice. A memorial service will be at the Chula Vista Presbyterian Church located at 940 Hilltop Dr. on December 13 at 1 p.m. Any donation should be directed to San Diego Hospice.
