EDWIN WALLACE "WALLY" FLANAGAN

FLANAGAN, EDWIN WALLACE "WALLY" On August 2, 2011, Wally Flanagan died peacefully in his eighty-eighth year. Predeceased by his first wife, Nora Clare (nee McCabe) of Ventura, California and survived by their children, Frank (Lynn) of San Diego, Maureen (David Denison) of Toronto, Peggy (Milford Quirion) of Courtice and Tim (Lisa) of Simi Valley plus their eleven grandchildren, Michael (Laura), Patrick and Laura; Conor and Tessa Denison; Sean, Molly, Caleigh and Tim Sprague; Megan and Casey. Wally leaves his cherished second wife, Mary (Huter), her children, Jan (Tom), Cindy (David), Laura (Doug), Susie (Dennis) and Margie (Greg), and her nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Born December 18, 1923 at Sacramento, CA, Wally served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II, was a graduate of University of Southern California and a member of Sigma Chi. He had a dedicated career in financial services from which he retired in 1990 as Vice Chairman, Guaranty Trust Company Canada. He led an active life including golf and tennis (Bayview Country Club in Thornhill, Pinebrook Golf Club in Calgary and Vista Valley CC in San Diego County). He was a leader, a man of integrity, graciousness, wit, determination and humility and will be missed by his many friends and family. A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, August 8, 2011 at St. Peter the Apostle, 450 S. Stage Coach Road, Fallbrook, California. A reception will follow at Vista Valley Golf Club.
