Putman, Ellington SAN DIEGO -- Ellington Putman was born, the youngest of nine children, on April 30, 1929, in Pontiac, MI. At the age of 16, he went to work for General Motors
where he did everything from assembling to painting cars. His life was interrupted when he was called up by the U.S. Army and sent to serve in the Korean War
where he earned the rank of Corporal. After the Army, he continued his work at GM where he retired after 30 years of service. He was married for 65 years to his wife, Bernice, and had two daughters, Lisa and Lori (Tim) Nijhof. Ellington passed away on July 5, 2013, in National City, CA. He was a wonderful husband and father. We love and miss him. There will be a small memorial service July 31st at 2:30 at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery on Point Loma.
