Laughlin, Etta "Jean" SAN DIEGO -- Etta "Jean" Laughlin, 85, passed away July 10, 2013. She was born January 22, 1928 in Salem, Illinois to Harry and Bertha Clark. On January 22, 1946, Jean married Harry P. Laughlin. In 1948, Jean obtained her Beauty Operators license, thus launching a long a varied career. Some of her accomplishments include Portrait Photographer; Vice President, Western Region of Jewels by Park Lane and Co-Owner of McMackin Hardware and Gourmet. It was at this time, Jean found her true passion and began studying the art of French Cooking, under the guidance of Jean-Pierre of St Louis, MO. Jean and her family returned to San Diego in 1983 where she began teaching cooking classes, owning and operating Posh Pantry and ending her career with Kitchen Aid Consultants, where she worked until the age of 83. Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Harry; sister, Mary; and brother, Bill. She is survived by her children, Drs. Barry and wife Cela; daughter, Rebecca Johnson, FNP and husband Bob; son, Dr. Robert and wife Susan; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her brothers, Richard, Edward and Keith Clark; and sister, Barbara-Sue Hill. A Celebration of Life will be held at 12 noon on Tuesday, August 6, at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to a charity of you choice.
