iconNolan, Eugene John 09/25/1927 ~ 01/29/2013 ESCONDIDO -- Our Dad slipped away into the presence of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on January 29, 2013. Dad was born in Philadelphia, Pa., the son of John and Catherine Nolan. At the age of 17, dad joined the Merchant Marines where he served honorably for seven years. Shortly thereafter, he joined the United States Air Force, where he had an illustrious career for 28 years. Dad was a highly decorated veteran serving in WWII, Korea and Vietnam. He received the Bronze Star while in Vietnam for his heroic actions. Dad was a compassionate, kind, generous and loving man. Everyone felt comfortable in his presence and was a blessing to those he knew and met for the first time. He had a keen wit and could share jokes with the best of them. His unconditional love inspired everyone around him. Thank you Dad for the amazing example you were to all of us! He was preceded by the passing of his beautiful wife, Annie Gray; and is survived by his son and wife, Stuart and Karen Tant; his daughter and husband, Vicki and Alan Pearson; and his son and wife, Scott and Mary Tant. He has 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. There are countless nephews and nieces who survives their Uncle "Genie" too. Memorial Services will be held on Saturday February 9, 2013 at 10 am at Emmanuel Faith Church, 639 E. 17th Ave, Escondido, CA. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to: Elizabeth Hospice 150 W. Crest St., Escondido.
