FRANCES LOUISE FOHEY ZELUFF

ZELUFF, FRANCES LOUISE FOHEY Frances passed into eternal life December 4, 2012, under the compassionate care of the Sharp Hospice Care Team headed by Nurse Sharon Wilson, Mom's blessed care giver Kim German, and steadfast Fina Rico. She was in her home, surrounded by her loving family. Born in San Diego on February 22, 1922 to father Francis Marion Fohey of Michigan and mother Louise Maxwell Fohey of Tennessee, she graduated in 1939 from San Diego High. In 1967, she graduated from SDSU with Bachelors degree in Sociology-Psychology. Married in 1947, she was predeceased by George Norman Zeluff Sr., husband of 53 years, and sister Lillian Margaret Bartman. Being a member and leader of local/national organizations, she was a woman ahead of her time. During the 1950s, she was a state and national lobbyist for the commercial fishing industry. Her collaboration w/ key leaders and the Tuna industry proved to be instrumental making San Diego the "Tuna capitol of the world." San Diego organizations benefiting from her involvement are Propeller Club of US, Daughters of the American Revolution. Frances is survived by son George Norman Zeluff Jr.; daughter Shannon Louise Zeluff Greenlee; grand-daughters; Susan Zeluff; and Carleen, Alison, and Erin Greenlee. She was our beacon of light admired and respected by all who knew her. Services will be held at Point Loma Community Presbyterian Church on January 12th, Saturday, at 1:00 p.m. Reception to follow.
