PHILLIPS, GLOW "GEORGE" B. July 29, 1923 to November 11, 2012 George passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 11th, with his loving wife, Eileen, by his side. George was born on July 29, 1923 in Pensacola, FL to Glow and Elizabeth Phillips. His family moved to San Diego in 1932. He graduated from Hoover High School then entered the Navy serving from 1942 - 1945. After the service George attended the University of Southern California graduating with a degree in Civil Engineering. He married Eileen Berrey on January 20, 1951 and raised two children, Christine and Michael. George worked as a civil engineer for 40 years. For over 25 years he and partner Lloyd Jeffries had a civil engineering firm, Jeffries & Phillips, in La Mesa. After retirement he enjoyed playing golf and tennis and travelling with his wife, Eileen. He is survived by Eileen, his wife of 61 years; his children Christine Bashforth (Michael) of Solvang, CA, son, Michael Phillips of Spokane, WA, grandson Patrick Bashforth, sister Gloria Walters of San Diego, sister in law, Jackie Phillips, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Lanas "Del" Phillips. A graveside service will be held at El Camino Memorial Park on Wednesday, November 21st, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Fr. Joe's Villages, 3350 E St., San Diego, CA 92102.
