Wallace, Helen Margaret MD, MPH SAN DIEGO -- Helen Wallace born February 18, 1913 in New York died February 2, 2013 in San Diego, CA. She graduated from Wellesley College in 1933 where she was captain of the tennis team, and ranked #7 on the US team. She earned her MD from Columbia University in 1937, and an MPH from Harvard in 1943, cum laude. Dr. Wallace practiced medicine in NY and worked with the WHO in Africa, Asia and around the world. She taught Maternal and Child Health at UC Berkeley. After serving as Head of Family Health for 28 years, she joined the faculty of the new Graduate School of Public Health at San Diego State University. After retiring she remained in San Diego surrounded by art and mementos gathered from her travels around the world.
