HOWARD RUSSELL (AKA RUSS BULLEN) BULLEN Jr.

BULLEN JR., HOWARD RUSSELL (AKA RUSS BULLEN) Howard Russell Bullen Jr. (aka Russ Bullen) passed away Sunday, January 13, 2013, at his home in Chula Vista surrounded by his family. Russ passed away from complications of Lymphoma cancer. Russ was born to Howard and Evelyn Bullen in Paradise Valley Hospital on May 19, 1932. He was the oldest of five children and lived his entire life in the South Bay. He went to "F" Street Elementary School and was in the third class to graduate from Chula Vista High School. He spent four years in the Navy as a dental tech before graduating from San Diego State College (later SDSU) with a degree in Accounting. After graduation he went to work for his uncle Clayton at Bullen & Associates. He later took over the business and practiced accounting in Chula Vista for over fifty years. In addition to accounting, Russ was also known for his racecar driving skills. Russ began racing jalopies at Balboa Stadium. He raced on many tracks all over Southern California and for years he held the record for winning the most consecutive races at El Cajon Speedway. Russ was a long time member of the San Diego Country Club. He served on the Board of Directors and was President of the Club as well. Russ is survived by his wife Nancy; sons Michael Bullen of Charlestown, WV, Greg Bullen (wife Lynn) of Cathedral City, and Jeff Bullen of San Diego; grandchildren Brandon, Tyler, Kyel, and Jason and two great- granddaughters. Also surviving are his brother Danny Bullen Springfield, OR, sister Claudia Crawford of Rochester, WA and sister-in-law Carol Bullen Bellingham, WA. Preceding Russ to eternal rest were his brother Dan Bullen and his sister Patricia Ceccotti. A Celebration of Life is planned for January 27th, from noon to three o'clock at the San Diego Country Club. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Boys and Girls Clubs of South County, 847 Encina Avenue, Imperial Beach, CA 91932.
