PERNICANO, ISABELLE CASMIRA August 4, 1917 to December 20, 2012 Belle received her wings Thursday morning in the comfort of her own home. She now watches over all of us from her owners box in the sky. Isabelle," Belle", "Blue Eyes." She was born and grew up in a little Polish town of Hamtramck, MI. She was predeceased by three sisters, Eleanor, Irene and June and one loving brother, Wallace. It was in Detroit in Eastwood Park one starry night that she met her partner for life. She met George Pernicano on the dance floor in the Big Band Era. That night changed her life forever. She and George married and worked in wartime together. She was blessed with the miracle of twin boys, Gary and Larry. Shortly after their birth, they moved to San Diego where Belle and George started the first pizza place in San Diego, Pernicano's Restaurant. They had the recipe for success, love and family. They were the perfect hosts, traveled like movie stars and tasted life like every bite was their last. Belle worked beside George at the restaurant and was the heart of the business. They, shortly afterwards, were talked into a deal of a lifetime. They invested in the San Diego Chargers in 1961. The Chargers became an extension of Belle and George's family and daily life. Her heart was her looking glass to her soul. She always thought of others before herself and was always compassionate to other's needs. Her faith and grace defined her true inner beauty that she wore so proudly daily. All that were fortunate to meet Belle know that her every thought and action came straight from her heart. But, don't think you would come away without a few giggles or laughs. Her sharp wit continued to tickle my belly up until her final day. There was always laughter and smiles with Belle. We will miss your kind spirit, your tender loving blue eyes and your abounding unconditional love and acceptance of us all. Isabelle is survived by her loving husband of 72 years, George Pernicano, her devoted sons Gary and Larry, her grateful grandchildren, Tony, Michelle, Tina, George, Aimée and Andrew and her blessed thirteen great-grandchildren. A Rosary will be held in her honor on Wednesday, January 2, 2013, at St. Augustine Chapel at 6:30 p.m. There will be a Mass for Isabelle on January 3rd at 10:00 a.m. at Holy Cross Catholic Cemetery & Mausoleum, 4470 Hilltop Dr., San Diego, CA 92102, followed by a blessing at her graveside.
