GERDING, JANIECE August 31, 1923 to December 13, 2012 Our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother passed away peacefully in Point Loma. Janiece, lovingly called Gaga by her grandchildren, was born and raised in San Diego. She graduated from The Academy of Our Lady of Peace in 1941. She loved all of the Sisters who taught her, among many of the great lessons, that "memory is God's greatest gift." Janiece married the love of her life, Richard Gerding, on February 8, 1942. Together, they enjoyed 63 wonderful years of marriage raising their children, enjoying their grandchildren, and traveling the globe. A woman whose husband and family always came first, Janiece was active in the PTA, Christ Lutheran Church, Little League and the OLP Alumni. She was a brilliant woman, well-read and beautiful with the bluest eyes God could make. Just weeks before her passing, she enjoyed a family Thanksgiving that included one of her four great-grandchildren, Charlotte Brewer. Janiece is survived by children, Christie Gerding, Richard Gerding II (and Carolyn), Robin Bitterlin (and Chris), grandchildren, Jennifer, Kevin, Richard (and Mandy), Lauren, Robin, Alexandra, Micaela (and Kyle), Andrew, and four great-grand-children. She will be interred with her beloved husband at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in January followed by a family dinner. We wish to thank Dana Woods and all of the staff at Casa Rosa for the loving and tender care they gave Janiece during the past three years. Donations would be gratefully accepted in Janiece's honor to the "Richard Gerding - Louis Bitterlin Grandfathers' Scholarship" at Cathedral Catholic High School. Attn: Carolyn Sturz, 5555 Del Mar Heights Road, San Diego, CA 92130. We are thankful for every memory and love you forever Gaga.
