Sullivan, Joan Beverly EL CAJON -- Joan Beverly Sullivan was born July 18, 1933 in Detroit, MI, to Edwin and Angela Brede. She went home to the Lord on October 15, 2013. She had two sisters, Mary and Lois, and one brother, John. She attended Redford High School in Detroit and Michigan Normal College, where she received her BA. She began teaching school, and later married Jack H. Sullivan. They eventually settled in El Cajon, CA. During their 57 year marriage, 12 children were born, as well as 20 grandchildren and 4 great-grand- children. Joan was smart, funny, full of wisdom and humor, and passionate about the things she believed in, most importantly, her faith in God, which she passed down to her family. Joan was a great advocate for the unborn and an accomplished writer, excelling in children's stories. She was a substitute teacher in the East County school districts as well as a religious education teacher. Joan was highly involved in the lives of her children and grandchildren, and always there to lend a hand or offer advice or support. She loved to bring the family together for holidays and other special occasions and was truly the super-glue that held the family together.
