JOANN LEE GUNTHER

GUNTHER, JOANN LEE September 8, 1933 to December 24, 2012 Joann Lee Gunther lost her courageous battle with life on the morning of Christmas Eve 2012. She left this earth fiercely independent, but peaceful in her resolve. She was stubborn and determined to make all her own decisions to the end. Her heart was as strong as ever, but she was needed elsewhere to spread her generosity throughout Heaven. She was born Joann Lee Frederick on September 8, 1933, to Cleo Pauline (Yerty) and William John Frederick in Detroit, MI. She passed away on December 24, 2012, in San Diego, CA with two of her youngest children by her side. Joann is survived by two equally stubborn and determined sisters; Jane Wagar of Kent, OH and Billie Hooper of Mobile, AL. She is also survived by her four children -- Rick Gunther of Lee, ME; Jeff Gunther of Longwood, FL; Janette Gunther-Allen of Clarksburg, CA; and Mike Gunther of Los Angeles, CA; five grandchildren -- Sandra Gunther of Key West, FL; Madison and Kyle Allen of Clarksburg, CA; Addison Gunther of Longwood, FL; Maya Gunther of Los Angeles, CA; her daughter-in-law -- Kerry Gunther of Longwood, FL; and son-in-law -- Rob Allen of Clarksburg, CA. Joann was a staunch supporter of efforts to assist domestic violence victims. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a local charity in support of domestic violence awareness and victims.
