REPAIRE, JOHN R., M.D. Aug. 11, 1936 to Nov. 28, 2012 Surrounded by his loving family, Dr. John Richard Repaire died on November 28, 2012 after a courageous battle with melanoma. John was born on August 11, 1936 in Charleston, WV, son of the late Edna Jane Lindley Repaire and Richard Gerald Repaire. He was a graduate of Montgomery High School, West Virginia University, and the Medical College of Virginia. He served his internship at Charleston Memorial Hospital in Charleston, WV and his residency at Hurley Hospital in Flint, Michigan. Following residency and three years private practice in San Diego, CA, John served as a Captain in the United States Air Force
and was stationed in Taichung, Taiwan where he headed up a base hospital for wounded soldiers returning from Vietnam. After his return from service, he entered private practice again in San Diego, CA and later became one of the first charter members for the specialty of American Family Physicians. "Doc Fix," as he was lovingly known by his patients, was passionate about the care of his patients and was one of the few doctors who would deliver babies in the home in the '70s and early '80s. During these years he delivered close to 2000 babies. In the late '80s, he practiced medicine at a Coal Valley Medical Clinic in Smithers, WV and worked in the emergency room and trauma center in Beckley, WV. After returning to California in 1991, he worked for the U.S. Navy
as a civilian medical doctor until his retirement in 2007. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Nancy Ree Arnold Repaire, and children/spouses and grandchildren: Suzanne (Repaire) and Jim Robinson, Nicole and Steven Harris of Chula Vista, CA, Rex and Carolyn Repaire, Rex John and Kirra, of Carlsbad, CA, and Marc Repaire, Rene and Karina of San Juan Capistrano, CA. Also by a dear Uncle Romaine Repaire of San Rafael, CA, three sisters and spouses: Mary and Butch Hill of Georgia, Lynda and Rich Hopkins of Terra Alta, WV and Anne and Phil Raney of Oak Hill, WV, one brother and spouse, Rich and Evon Repaire of Shawnee, Kansas, as well as many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
