Larry Mabile(1932 - 2014)

Mabile, Larry PACIFIC BEACH-- Larry Mabile Sr., passed away on January 25, 2014, with his family by his side. Larry was born the eldest of five children in Donaldsonville, LA on April 21, 1932 to O'Neil and Eula Mabile. He graduated in 1956 from Loyola University in New Orleans with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. He then joined the U.S. Navy, relocating him to Point Loma, there upon meeting his future wife, Rose Marie Ghio. He was assigned to the First Marines Airway in Iwakuni, Japan as an executive officer of the 11th Force Dental Company. Upon his return, he attended graduate school at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, graduating in 1960 with a fellowship in periodontics. He was a long time resident of Pacific Beach which included his private periodontal practice from 1962 to 1996. Larry's greatest joy was his family, especially his wife of 55 years. He easily warmed the hearts of many with his kindness, quick wit, and southern charm. He was an incredible father to four children, a grandfather to ten, and a best friend to many, especially the ROMEOs (retired old men eating out). A memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m., on February 11, at Saint Brigid Church, 4753 Cass Street, San Diego, 92109.
