Louis Edgar Vick

Vick, Louis Edgar 1930 ~ 2013 POINT LOMA -- Reverend Louis Edgar Vick passed away peacefully in Los Angeles on Sunday, June 23, 2013. He was born on May 21, 1930 to Horace Edgar Vick and Cornelia Sholtz Eubaghs in Oakland, CA. He grew up in Seattle, WA where he met his wife of 61 years, Faith Patricia Middeke. He graduated from the University of Washington, and went on to attend San Francisco Theological Seminary in San Anselmo, CA. He served as a Minister to servicemen, as well as serving as a pastor in churches in Monterey, CA, and Rexburg, Idaho. The last 30 years of his ministry culminated at Point Loma Community Presbyterian Church in San Diego, CA (1962- 1992). Lou served as the Vice-Moderator of the Presbytery of San Diego in 1981, Moderator in 1982, and Chair of Council in 1983, as well as serving on many other committees within the Presbytery and Synod Council of Southern California and Hawaii. He spent much of his time serving his community. He worked with the homeless, traveled on a mission trip to Guatemala and El Salvador, assisted orphanages in Tijuana, and was the Chairman of the Ocean Beach Emergency Food Inter- Faith Shelter Program Loaves and Fishes where he continued to serve well into his retirement. He enjoyed traveling the world with his wife, Faith, and captured each adventure through photographs he took and shared with family and friends. He was an avid handyman, and loved creating stained glass art and working with other forms of arts and crafts. He is survived by his wife, Faith Vick; his daughters, Judy Dahlson and Karen Hines; and his five grandchildren, Alison, Kirstin, and Desiree Dahlson, and Grant and Avery Hines.
