LOUIS PRINCIPE

PRINCIPE, LOUIS Lou, 83, passed January 13, 2013. A dedicated family man, he leaves behind his wife of 60 years, Margie, 14 of his 15 children, their spouses, 24 grand-children and spouses, six great-grandchildren, and one on the way! A beloved pharmacist for over 50 years, he owned Balboa, Clairemont and St. Damien Pharmacies in San Diego. In his last year at Massachusetts College of Pharmacy, he attended a YMCA dance where he and chums made a pact not to ask any girls out. He probably never made a pact again, as he met Margie at the dance and that was that. Married shortly after his graduation, they moved to California for his service in the Army. There he expanded his Compounding skills, an aspect of Pharmacy he truly loved. Margie first met his Italian family in San Diego, where they settled to raise their own. Lou was in the first Deacon Class of the San Diego Diocese, 1974, continuing his ministry through the remainder of his life. He was a natural electronics man, drawn to stereos and gadgets. He loved to cook, drive his 4x4 to its max, camp and hike. A music fan, he was often heard belting out a song. Lou lived life to the fullest, and on his terms. He was blessed to be called quickly when his body was no longer willing to play the game. "Gino" to his wife and brothers; "Lou" to his pharmacy patrons, church community, and friends; Dad, Grandpa, Great-grandpa to his progeny; he is so deeply missed. Mass: Friday, January 18th, 10:30 a.m. at Guardian Angels Church, Santee.
