LYDIA MARY NYHAMMER

NYHAMMER, LYDIA MARY Lydia Mary Nyhammer died unexpectedly after a long illness in a nursing home in Santee, December 18, 2012. She was 85 years old. There will be a service at the El Camino La Mesa Chapel, (619)-466-3297 on January 5, 2013 at 11:00 with a short service at the Mausoleum afterwards. What we loved about Lydia was the devotion she had for her family. She was a warm matriarch who always made sure family and friends alike were comfortable, entertained, and well fed. She was a successful homemaker for 66 years. She loved music ever since playing first violin in the School Orchestra and enjoyed listening to her husband and grandchildren also play. After raising five children, she went back to college and earned her Associate Degree at Grossmont College. Lydia was born and raised in Reno Nevada where she graduated from Reno High School. She met and married her first husband Richard Jackson in Reno. They lived in many places around the country where his job took them. They settled in Redding, California where her husband died. She met and married Erling Nyhammer in Redding. They moved to San Diego in 1969 and have had a home in El Cajon since 1976. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Erling Nyhammer, her children Susan (Mike) Forga, Bob (Judee) Jackson, Pam Wagner, Kari (Michael )Collins, and Katie Nyhammer, five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
