MARGARET NEVA BARLETTA

BARLETTA, MARGARET NEVA 1943 to 2011 Margaret "Maggie" Harrigan was born in Bell, CA. She was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis at age 12. Maggie met Michael Barletta in Pomona, CA in 1956 and they married at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Nov. 1960. Being a Navy family they moved frequently. While in Patuxent River, MD, Maggie was a volunteer with the Red Cross working in the base hospital. In 1971 they bought a house in Spring Valley and joined Santa Sophia Catholic Church. In 1978 after a three year tour in Illinois, the family moved back to Spring Valley and Santa Sophia. Maggie began working for Santa Sophia Academy that year. Miss Maggie, as she was known to her students, worked for the Academy for over 20 years. Working first with the Title I program and then later as a teacher's aide. Fourth grade was her favorite, but she loved all her students and very often would see them after they graduated and became adults. In addition to her husband Mike, Maggie is survived by their three children Michael, Steven and Lauren and six grandchildren, Camille, Jessie, Ryan, Rachel, Jordyn and Shawn. Mike and Maggie celebrated their 50th anniversary with their children and grandchildren on a Mexican Riviera Cruise in November of 2010. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on March 3, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Pius X Catholic Church in Jamul.
