MARY H. Dead at 66 STIMAC

STIMAC, MARY H. Dead at 66 Born October 26, 1946, in Douglas, AZ, Mary Helen Stimac was the daughter of Cmdr. Nadan J. F. Stimac and Helen Laura Holtane. Her grandparents Antonio and Mary (Sirotich) Stimac of Croatia and Ben Holtane of Norway and wife Hulda Johnson of Sweden all arrived in the Arizona copper mining town in the early 1900s. During childhood, Mary lived in Arizona, Rhode Island, Virginia and California, settling in Lemon Grove when beginning middle school. Graduating from Mt. Miguel HS in 1964, Mary graduated from Grossmont JC and SDSU with degrees in Philosophy and English. She worked as a TWA stewardess and for a land title company. Mary made an extended visit to India after the death of her mother and a newfound interest in religion. A childhood friend and genealogist did her family history, added hundreds of cousins to Mary's shrinking sense of family. She later cared for her father with Alzheimer's until his death in 2008. Mary died at her home in Lemon Grove on Thursday, November 8th, leaving behind two treasured and loved dogs, Cassidy and Brodie. She is survived by a half-sister Sonja Young and a nephew John Young, plus cousins.
