Taggart, Mary Lillian 09/09/1922 ~ 10/28/2013 LA JOLLA -- Mary Taggart peacefully passed away in her sleep early in the morning on October 28, 2013 while being wonderfully cared for at Grossmont Gardens and Hospice in La Mesa. She recently celebrated her 91st Birthday having lived a godly life. Mary was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota and was raised in Seattle, Washington where she attended Roosevelt High School. It was there she was courted by the love of her life - William "Bill" Taggart with whom she was married in 1941. While Bill worked at Boeing and then joined the Army
Air Force, Mary remained a homemaker and lovingly raised her family of two boys and two girls. After the war years, they settled in California, living in Pacific Palisades; Point Loma; La Canada and finally in La Jolla where they lived since 1957. Mary and Bill were constant companions, enjoying golf together; boating, and traveling throughout the world. They were very active in the Presbyterian Church in La Jolla, and various civic affairs in San Diego. She was an avid Bridge player, and thoroughly enjoyed participating with other ladies at the Southwest Yacht Club and in La Jolla. She was a loving and devoted wife to Bill (deceased) and a giving mother to her four children. Mary is survived by her son Lawrence "Larry" W. Taggart; daughter Nancy A. Shultz; and son Brian J. Taggart. Her daughter Virginia J. Burton predeceased Mary 11 years ago. She has seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. We will all miss 'Grammy' dearly. A private Celebration of Life memorial will be held in Pt. Loma on August 23rd attended by close friends and family. The family requests that any donations be made to Sharp Hospice in La Mesa.
