Michael Joseph Evans

iconEvans, Michael Joseph SAN CARLOS -- Michael Joseph Evans, born December 26, 1934 was a native resident of San Diego, passed away peacefully on March 25, 2013. Mike attended St. Augustine High School and graduated with the class of 1954. There after he enlisted into the United States Marine Corps. He spent two tours in Vietnam and was a drill instructor at MCRD for three years. He retired after twenty years of service as a Captain in 1974. After retirement from the service he started his own landscaping business called the Irish Thumb. He was very involved in youth baseball and softball sports in the San Carlos area. He worked for the City of San Diego in the Water Department for 10 years then retired in 1998. He is survived by his wife, Juliet; children, Michelle, Kevin and Keith; six grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Viewing will be held on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Featheringill Mortuary, 6322 El Cajon Blvd. Services will be held on Monday, April 8, 2013 at 9:00 a.m., San Diego Mission, immediately following a military honor will be held at Miramar National Cemetery.
