NICHOLAS KASIMATIS

KASIMATIS, NICHOLAS Nicholas Kasimatis, 83, died peacefully in his home January 9, 2013. He was born April 10, 1929 in San Pedro, CA to Nicholas and Frances Kasimatis. Nick graduated from the UCLA School of Business and UCLA Law School and has been a member of the California State Bar since 1955. He served in the U.S. Navy Supply Corps for three years aboard the USS Ingersoll. He was a Deputy District Attorney in San Diego County for 24 years and a Superior Court Judge for 12 years. Married to Mary Frances Ross since 1954, Nick was a member of St. Therese Catholic Parish, where he was a Eucharistic minister and a lector, and served on the Parish Council and the School Board. He was also a founding member of International Relief Teams and Whispering Winds Catholic Family Camp and volunteered for KPBS' Radio Reading Service. Known for his generosity and sense of humor, Nick was an avid tennis player and loved the outdoors and world travel. He is survived by his wife, Mary, eight children, nine grandchildren, and three brothers. A funeral mass will be held at St. Therese Catholic Church on Friday, January 18th, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Whispering Winds Catholic Family Camp, Father Joe's Villages, or International Relief Teams.
