Richard Edwin "Bud" Relyea(1928 - 2013)

Relyea, Richard Edwin "Bud" SAN DIEGO -- Richard Edwin Relyea passed away peacefully on November 14, 2013. Bud was born to Claude and Marguerite Relyea on October 8, 1928. He had two sisters and one brother, all predeceased. He married Doris Plemmons in March 1951 and they had 62 happy years together. They had two children Kathryn (Molina) and Darrell, five grandchildren and one great-grandson, as well as many nieces and nephews. Bud was an avid sports fan, but baseball was his passion. He signed a contract with the New York Yankees in June 1948 and played in the Yankee Farm System two years. While he loved sports, he also loved the theater, music and traveling the world. Bud had the spirit of a volunteer and was active his whole life. Some of the places he volunteered include: Pacific Beach Presbyterian Church, La Jolla High Alumni Association, La Jolla High Alumni picnic for 25 years, San Diego Jocks, Al Bahr Shrine of San Diego and the La Jolla YMCA. He was employed in the aerospace industry and retired from Cubic Corporation in 1991. He worked there as a Supervisor of Production Planning. He also owned a Collectible Business. He sold and framed collective art, lithographs and figurines. Bud was a wonderful husband, father, father in law and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 22, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. at El Camino Memorial Chapel at 5600 Carroll Canyon Rd., San Diego, 92121.
