MCLAUGHLIN, RICHARD GEORGE Richard G. McLaughlin passed away from complications of Alzheimer's disease at the age of 83 on February 1, 2013. Richard "Dick" McLaughlin was born in Dansville, New York on September 17, 1929. He lived most of his life in Buffalo until 1978 when he relocated to San Diego. He was an expert in the field of weapons systems analysis, having worked extensively with computers from their very early days. His military research business, KAMAK Research Corporation, was successful for many years. Happily married for 53 years, Richard lost his beloved wife, Jean, to cancer and, with her, a part of him was gone forever. While Alzheimer's disease took control of his mind, and he mourned the loss of Jean, Richard did his best to stay strong. He drew closer to God and he longed for the day when he would be reunited with Jean. Richard was called from this life on Friday, February 1, 2013. He is survived by his daughter Karen Winger, son-in-law, Marty, grandchildren, Kathleen, Allison, Tim and Molly, and sisters Ann Marie Westner and Jane Tugwell. A funeral Mass will be held for Richard at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, El Cajon on Tuesday, February 26th at 11:00 a.m. preceded by the recitation of the Rosary at 10:30 a.m. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to either the or the .
