ROBERT GILMAN ODIORNE Jr.

ODIORNE JR., ROBERT GILMAN September. 22, 1944 to January 7, 2013 Captain Robert G. Odiorne, Jr. "ODI" passed away January 7, 2013 at 2:45 p.m. after a long battle with Alzheimer's, Dementia, and Parkinson's disease. Family and close friends surrounded him. Born in Charleston, South Carolina on September 22, 1944, he was the son of Robert Gilman Odiorne, Sr. and Ruth Campbell. He is predeceased by his parents, former wife, Betty Marie (Entner), and sister-in-law, Candy Odiorne. He is survived by his wife, Lorraine and beloved daughter Jayme Jane Evans of Alpine, CA, brother Richard and niece Katie of Coronado, CA, brother Roger and nephew Brock of Coronado, CA, cousins Jeff and (Sally) of Osprey, FL, Woody and (Bonnie) of West Chester, PA, and Steve and (Marilyn) of Melbourne, FL. Robert loved to socialize with his family, friends, and neighbors. He loved his cat, Mocha, hiking, surfing, sailing, fishing, classic cars, motorcycles, bicycle riding, old movies, his career of 29 years as a firefighter with the El Cajon Fire Department, and his wife and daughter. His spirit was always high and his personality always glowing. Robert had a way of making everyone feel important and special. He wanted you to be as happy as he was. He absolutely loved life and lived it to the fullest. The love he had for his daughter Jayme outshined all others. She completed his life. The family wishes to express their appreciation to the staff at La Vida Real, Vitas Hospice, and Cottonwood for the professional care and personal support given to them. The family holds a great appreciation for John Smallwood, LCSW, for his counsel and care. In addition, a special thank you for Robert's primary physician, Dr. Flora Danque. Her professional care and personal support during this incredibly difficult time will forever be remembered. As Robert continues his journey, he gave us all a final parting gift by his donation to Science and Research. Lorraine and Jayme wish to invite family, friends, and neighbors to their home in Alpine on February 24, 2013, between 2:00 and 6 p.m., for a "Celebration of Robert's Life".
