Battaglia, Rosalie 07/08/1922 ~ 06/07/2013 SAN DIEGO -- Rosalie Battaglia was born Rosalie Bazzo in St. Louis, Mo. on July 8, 1922, the only daughter of Mike and Mary Bazzo, and sister to Vincent and Joseph. She grew up in St. Louis and lived there until November 1944, when the family moved to San Diego, and settled in Little Italy. Rosalie lived in San Diego for the next 69 years. Rosalie married John Battaglia (born in San Francisco on July 29, 1920 and preceded Rosalie in death, in San Diego on February 17, 1993) on November 16, 1947 at St. Joseph's Cathedral in San Diego. Rosalie and John raised two sons, Anthony and Michael and moved in the early 1950's from Little Italy to Loma Portal. She and John later moved to Mira Mesa to be closer to their grand- children. Rosalie spent her last two years at The Arbors assisted living facility, with many friends. Rosalie was a devoted wife, mother, grand- mother, daughter, sister, aunt, godmother and friend. She loved everyone uncondition- ally, and went out of her way to make people happy. She took special joy in talking with, writing and seeing her many family members in San Diego, Northern California and St. Louis, Mo. Whether serving as an Elementary School Room Mother, a Cub Scout Den Mother, a Little League Team Mother, a Catechism Teacher, or an Alzheimer's Facilitator, Rosalie gave everything she had for the good of others. Rosalie is survived by her son Anthony and his wife Carol, their children Carly, A.J. and Carly's husband Brandon; her son Michael and her Brother Joseph, all of San Diego. A Mass will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery, 4470 Hilltop Drive, San Diego, California, on Thursday, June 13, 2013, at 10:00 A.M. with interment to follow.
